Web Analytics Consultant: Urchin

Headquartered in the Scottsdale Airpark, Actual Metrics is a Google Business Solutions agency. We're a small company with good industry relationships and have a solid foothold in a highly visible market. Our core business involves knowing everything possible about Urchin Software and Google Analytics, but we also provide expertise for the Google Mini and Search Appliance, Google Website optimizer, AdWords, Google Webmaster Tools, and more.

ALL ABOUT URCHIN

Urchin is a web analytics software package that helps businesses figure out how visitors reach websites, what activities visitors perform while on the site, what pages are read, where visitors are physically located, and other details about website traffic. Urchin creates these reports by processing web server log files -- reports are then accessed via a web browser. With Urchin, you can define conversion goals, import cost data, identify marketing campaigns, process historical data from old log files, create custom reports, and much more.

Urchin is used by many of our clients to track corporate intranets and public-facing websites -- these clients include Fortune 500 companies, web hosting companies, venture-backed startups, major colleges & universities, Government agencies, and everything in between. Actual Metrics is a one stop shop for Urchin -- this includes installation, configuration, support, training, customization, analysis, integration, and anything else you can do with the software.

JOB DETAILS

We are looking to hire 2-3 people as Web Analytics Consultants for Urchin -- these people will become experts in Urchin Software via in-house training events and on-the-job experience. We primarily interact with our clients via the phone and the web, although there are occasional opportunities to visit clients onsite. The workload will range from small support issues (1-3 hours) to large migration projects (100+ hours), but will also include internal development projects.

A successful candidate will have a technical background, customer service experience, and will be able to progress into various roles within the orgainzation (i.e. management, sales, product development, etc.). Please note -- if you haven't worked with Urchin before, no worries! We're looking for overall technical skills rather than existing Urchin expertise -- Urchin is easy to learn if you understand web technologies.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • some sort of technical degree (ideally CS) or proven technical prowess
  • clear verbal communication ability
  • a demonstrated ability to teach yourself new stuff
  • solid grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills (we e-mail our clients...a lot)

DESIRED SKILLS

  • HTML & CSS
  • Javascript
  • mySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Apache and/or IIS
  • Perl, Python, PHP
  • Linux administration (Red Hat Enterprise/Fedora/CentOS is ideal)
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese
  • Experience with Urchin, WebTrends, Omniture, etc. a plus
  • College degree preferred but not required
